“Thanks to a donation of time and talent, Omaha’s largest remaining World War I memorial – a historic monument in Turner Park in Midtown Crossing – will undergo an extensive restoration. Midtown Crossing Property Manager Bob Maher initially approached McGill Restoration about the much-needed restoration and the possibility of donating some labor.

McGill went a step further – donating the entire project.

“We are happy to do this for the City and for Mutual of Omaha/Midtown Crossing. Mutual of Omaha has been a long-standing, great customer. We value our relationship with them,” McGill said. “We also have a passion for the City of Omaha. We’re happy to be in this city, and this is a great opportunity for us to give back to the community.”

The Veterans Memorial is one of 75 pieces of public art in Omaha, said Melina Pearson, director of Omaha Parks, Recreation and Public Property.

”This is getting the care it needs because of the efforts of McGill Restoration, who stepped forward and volunteered their time, and Midtown Crossing. This is a great example of a private/public partnership that improves our city,” Pearson said.
